Texas Physicians Endorse Carol Alvarado
for Election to Texas House District 145
AUSTIN – TEXPAC, the political advocacy arm of the Texas Medical Association (TMA), has endorsed Carol Alvarado for election to Texas House District 145. TMA is Texas’ largest physician organization.
“Ms. Alvarado has a proven track record advocating for quality-of-life improvements for Houston residents,” said Manuel Acosta, MD, chair of the TMA Political Action Committee (TEXPAC) Board of Directors. “We believe she will bring that same passion and commitment to the Texas Capitol.
“We believe, if elected, she will listen actively to her constituents and work hard on their behalf to improve Texas’ health care system,” added Dr. Acosta. Ms. Alvarado has expressed a strong desire to improve childhood vaccinations rates and health care services for the mentally ill. She also is committed to putting health care decisions back into the hands of physicians and patients — instead of health insurers.
“We look forward to working with Representative Alvarado,” Dr. Acosta said.
TEXPAC speaks on behalf of more than 43,000 Texas physicians and medical students, and nearly 8,000 alliance members. Organized in 1962, TEXPAC is one of the oldest political action committees in Texas. TEXPAC also is one of the largest bipartisan PACs in the state and ranks first in size among other state medical association PACs.
