Welcome to the Carol Alvarado Campaign
I would like to ask for your support of my candidacy in the March 4, 2008 Democratic Primary for State Representative, District 145. This seat is being vacated by my friend, Representative Rick Noriega. In the past you have supported my efforts to seek public office and I hope you will join me again on this new exciting journey. I intend to run a positive campaign that focuses on my experience and commitment to public service, as well as the issues of concern to the voters of District 145.
I am best positioned to win this campaign because of my past record of service and my working relationship with the voters of the district. I am coming to the end of my sixth year as the Houston City Council Member for District I, which encompasses two thirds of the voting precincts of District 145. I have a strong record of accomplishments and have led the fight for cleaner air, anti-smoking initiatives for restaurants and bars, and the redevelopment of Downtown Houston. The neighborhood and civic leaders I have worked with recognize that I am a passionate advocate for their concerns. I begin this campaign with strong support throughout the district.
I am also very familiar with the key members of the Texas Legislature and the legislative process. For the past year, I have served as President of the Board of Directors of the Texas Municipal League (TML) and have regularly dealt with the legislature.
